छत्तीसगढ़ की समृद्ध जनजातीय परंपराओं और स्वतंत्रता संग्राम की गौरवशाली गाथा का सजीव प्रदर्शन शहीद वीर नारायण सिंह स्मारक एवं जनजातीय स्वतंत्रता सेनानी संग्रहालय में देखने को मिलता है — यह एक ऐसा अद्वितीय सांस्कृतिक केंद्र है, जो आधुनिक डिजिटल तकनीकों के माध्यम से भारत के जनजातीय इतिहास को जीवंत करता है।

यह संग्रहालय देशभर में स्थापित किए जा रहे 11 जनजातीय स्वतंत्रता सेनानी संग्रहालयों में से एक है, जिसे 1 नवम्बर 2025 को राष्ट्र को समर्पित किया गया। लगभग 9.75 एकड़ क्षेत्र में फैले और ₹53.13 करोड़ की लागत से विकसित इस संग्रहालय में 650 से अधिक मूर्तियां, आधुनिक डिजिटल गैलरियाँ, होलोग्राम, 3डी प्रोजेक्शन तथा इंटरएक्टिव एआई-आधारित प्रदर्शनी प्रणाली स्थापित की गई हैं।

संग्रहालय में आगंतुकों को जनजातीय विद्रोहों की महत्वपूर्ण ऐतिहासिक झलकियाँ देखने को मिलती हैं — जिनमें हल्बा विद्रोह, पारलकोट आंदोलन, भूमकाल क्रांति तथा रानी चो-रिस आंदोलन जैसी उल्लेखनीय घटनाएं शामिल हैं। संग्रहालय में 1857 के क्रांतिकारी वीर शहीद वीर नारायण सिंह को विशेष श्रद्धांजलि दी गई है, साथ ही झाड़ा सिरहा जैसे अल्पज्ञात वीरों की शौर्यगाथा भी प्रदर्शित की गई है, जिन्होंने 1825 के पारलकोट आंदोलन का नेतृत्व किया था।

स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन से आगे बढ़ते हुए, संग्रहालय की 14 थीम आधारित गैलरियाँ जनजातीय जीवन की मूल आत्मा को प्रदर्शित करती हैं — बस्तर की घोटुल परंपरा से लेकर पारंपरिक शिकार, कृषि, मत्स्य पालन, लोक नृत्य-संगीत, लोक उपचार, तथा नवाखानी और उरिदखानी जैसे धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों तक। संग्रहालय में मराठा शासनकाल की सुबे व्यवस्था और अंग्रेजी शासन के शुरुआती दौर में जबरन श्रम (बेगार प्रथा) जैसे शोषण के ऐतिहासिक प्रसंग भी दर्ज किए गए हैं।

यह संग्रहालय परंपरा और तकनीक का संगम है, जहां आगंतुक एआई फोटो बूथ, डिजिटल स्क्रीन, होलोग्राम, और ऑडियो-वीडियो डिस्प्ले के माध्यम से एक इंटरएक्टिव अनुभव प्राप्त करते हैं।

छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार की जनजातीय कल्याण के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता पर प्रकाश डालते हुए, श्री सोनमणि बोरा, प्रमुख सचिव, जनजातीय विकास विभाग, ने कहा –

> “यह संग्रहालय केवल एक भवन नहीं, बल्कि ‘आदि संस्कृति’ का जीवंत केंद्र है — जो छत्तीसगढ़ की 43 अनुसूचित जनजातियों की विशिष्ट पहचान को संरक्षित और प्रदर्शित करता है। यह ज्ञान, अनुसंधान और आजीविका सृजन का भी केंद्र बनेगा। यहां महिलाओं के स्व-सहायता समूहों द्वारा कैंटीन का संचालन किया जा रहा है तथा अन्य कार्यों में भी उनकी भागीदारी सुनिश्चित की गई है, जिससे महिला सशक्तिकरण और रोजगार सृजन को बढ़ावा मिल रहा है।”

यह पहल भारत सरकार की ‘आदि संस्कृति परियोजना’ और ‘एआई आधारित भाषा संरक्षण प्लेटफॉर्म – आदि वाणी’ जैसी योजनाओं से भी जुड़ी है, जिनके माध्यम से गोंडी, मुंडारी, और भीली जैसी जनजातीय भाषाओं को डिजिटल रूप से संरक्षित करने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है।

शहीद वीर नारायण सिंह संग्रहालय इस प्रकार छत्तीसगढ़ की गौरवशाली जनजातीय परंपरा, आधुनिक तकनीक और सामाजिक सशक्तिकरण का अद्भुत संगम प्रस्तुत करता है — जो भारत की जनजातीय विरासत को विश्व पटल पर प्रतिष्ठित करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।

Aadi Sanskriti’ Comes Alive in Chhattisgarh: Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Museum Showcases Tribal Heritage through Digital Storytelling

Chhattisgarh’s rich tribal heritage and revolutionary spirit find a vibrant expression at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial & Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum—a unique cultural landmark that brings alive India’s tribal history through immersive digital experiences.

Dedicated to the nation on November 1, 2025, the museum stands as one of the 11 Tribal Freedom Fighter Museums being established across the country to commemorate the contributions of tribal heroes in India’s freedom struggle. Spread over 9.75 acres and developed at a cost of ₹53.13 crore, the museum showcases over 650 sculptures, state-of-the-art digital storytelling galleries, holographic installations, and interactive AI-enabled exhibits.

Visitors are introduced to defining moments of tribal resistance such as the Halba Rebellion, Paralkot Movement, Bhumkal Revolution, and the Rani Cho-Ris women-led uprising, which collectively narrate the saga of valor and self-sacrifice that shaped India’s freedom journey. The museum pays special homage to Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, the legendary hero of the 1857 revolution, while also acknowledging unsung warriors like Jhada Sirha, who led the 1825 Paralkot revolt.

Beyond freedom movements, the museum’s 14 thematic galleries portray the essence of tribal life — from the Ghotul institutions of Bastar to traditional hunting, agriculture, fishing, healing practices, folk dances, and rituals such as Navakhani and Uridkhani. The exhibits also trace the historical injustices faced by tribal communities under the Suba system of the Marathas and the oppressive Begar (forced labour) practices during early British rule.

The museum is designed as a living cultural space where tradition meets technology. Visitors engage with AI photo booths, digital kiosks, 3D projections, holographic guides, and audio-visual storytelling stations, creating an interactive journey through time.

Highlighting the State’s commitment to tribal welfare, Shri Sonmani Bora, Principal Secretary, Tribal Development Department, said:

> “This museum is not merely a structure; it is a living centre of ‘Aadi Sanskriti’ — celebrating the unique identity of Chhattisgarh’s 43 Scheduled Tribes. It serves as both a cultural repository and an evolving platform for learning, research, and economic empowerment. Women’s Self-Help Groups are managing the canteen and other facilities, reflecting our focus on inclusive development and livelihood creation.”

Aligned with national initiatives like the ‘Aadi Sanskriti Project’ and AI-based language preservation platform ‘Aadi Vani’, the museum represents the Government of India’s broader mission to digitally preserve tribal languages such as Gondi, Mundari, and Bhili, ensuring that India’s tribal culture continues to thrive in the modern era.
