In a powerful tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution, the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur, commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar today with a high-profile ceremony marked by intellectual discourse and a call for social resurgence. The event, spearheaded by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the institute, transformed the campus into a hub of reflection on democratic ideals, drawing significant participation from the academic community and the student body alike.
The proceedings commenced with a profound address by the Chief Guest, Professor N.V. Ramana Rao, Director of NIT Raipur, who underscored the timeless relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s visionary commitment to social justice and equality. Professor Rao urged the youth to transcend academic excellence and integrate the democratic principles championed by "Baba Saheb" into their personal and professional lives. Describing Dr. Ambedkar as a "voice for the voiceless," the Director highlighted his multifaceted legacy as a pioneering economist, jurist, and social reformer who dismantled systemic barriers to ensure justice and constitutional remedies for every citizen. He particularly noted Dr. Ambedkar’s unparalleled thirst for knowledge, citing his legendary personal library in Mumbai—housing over 50,000 rare volumes—as a beacon for aspiring scholars.
The solemnity of the occasion was further enriched by a documentary screening curated by the Films Division of India. The visual narrative meticulously traced Dr. Ambedkar’s arduous journey—from his relentless crusade against untouchability and his legal advocacy for minority rights to his transformative role in women’s emancipation and educational reform. The screening provided the audience with a vivid lens into the struggles and triumphs that shaped the modern Indian Republic.
Adding a competitive edge to the celebrations, the National Service Scheme organized a series of thematic events, including ‘Think Act Change,’ a Quiz, and a Debate, alongside a poignant ‘Letter to Dr. Ambedkar’ competition. The prize distribution ceremony saw Professor Manoj Chopkar, Dean of Student Welfare, join other senior faculty members—including Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. S.N. Raw, Dr. Pawan Kumar Mishra, Dr. Meena Murmu, and Dr. Govardhan Bhat—to honor the winners. In a display of exceptional merit, Abhijeet Kumar and Swara secured the top spot in the Quiz, while Koushikh and Jagriti Singh emerged victorious in the Debate. The Letter Writing competition was won by Shubham Chandra and Jagriti Singh.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Tirath Prasad Sahu, Faculty In-charge of the National Service Scheme, who, along with Dr. Nitesh Kumar Bhardwaj, coordinated the day’s activities. राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (एनआईटी), रायपुर में आज भारत रत्न डॉ. बी.आर. अंबेडकर की जयंती अत्यंत उत्साह और गरिमा के साथ मनाई गई। संस्थान की राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना (एनएसएस) इकाई द्वारा आयोजित इस विशेष कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में संस्थान के निदेशक डॉ. एन. वी. रमना राव उपस्थित रहे। कार्यक्रम में अधिष्ठाता (छात्र कल्याण) डॉ. मनोज चोपकर सहित वरिष्ठ संकाय सदस्यों, अधिकारियों और विद्यार्थियों ने संविधान निर्माता को अपनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की।
मुख्य अतिथि डॉ. एन. वी. रमना राव ने सभा को संबोधित करते हुए भारतीय संविधान के निर्माण में डॉ. अंबेडकर के अप्रतिम योगदान को रेखांकित किया। उन्होंने कहा कि बाबासाहेब का जीवन सामाजिक न्याय, समानता और लोकतांत्रिक अधिकारों के प्रति पूर्ण समर्पण का प्रतीक है। डॉ. राव ने विद्यार्थियों से आग्रह किया कि वे डॉ. अंबेडकर के जीवन से प्रेरणा लेकर हर क्षेत्र में संवैधानिक मूल्यों को अपनाएं। उन्होंने बाबासाहेब को एक महान समाज सुधारक, अर्थशास्त्री और विधिवेत्ता बताते हुए कहा कि वह न केवल वंचितों की मुखर आवाज थे, बल्कि महिला सशक्तीकरण और शिक्षा के प्रबल पक्षधर भी थे। उनके ज्ञान के प्रति अटूट लगाव का उल्लेख करते हुए निदेशक ने बताया कि डॉ. अंबेडकर का निजी पुस्तकालय उनकी ज्ञान साधना का जीवंत प्रमाण था।
समारोह के दौरान भारतीय फिल्म प्रभाग द्वारा निर्मित एक विशेष डॉक्यूमेंट्री का प्रदर्शन किया गया, जिसमें डॉ. अंबेडकर के जीवन संघर्षों, अस्पृश्यता के विरुद्ध उनकी लड़ाई और अल्पसंख्यक अधिकारों के संरक्षण हेतु किए गए कार्यों को सजीव रूप में दर्शाया गया।
इस अवसर पर राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना द्वारा आयोजित विभिन्न शैक्षणिक प्रतियोगिताओं के परिणामों की घोषणा कर विजेताओं को पुरस्कृत किया गया। क्विज़ प्रतियोगिता में अभिजीत कुमार एवं स्वरा ने बाजी मारी, जबकि वाद-विवाद प्रतियोगिता में कौशिक और जागृति सिंह विजयी रहे। पत्र लेखन प्रतियोगिता में शुभम चंद्र और जागृति सिंह ने प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया।
कार्यक्रम में डॉ. संजय कुमार, डॉ. एस. एन. राव, डॉ. पवन कुमार मिश्रा, डॉ. मीना मुर्मू और डॉ. गोवर्धन भट्ट सहित राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना के संकाय प्रभारी डॉ. तीरथ प्रसाद साहू एवं डॉ. नितेश कुमार भारद्वाज विशेष रूप से उपस्थित रहे। कार्यक्रम का औपचारिक समापन डॉ. तीरथ प्रसाद साहू के धन्यवाद ज्ञापन के साथ हुआ। यह आयोजन विद्यार्थियों के बीच डॉ. अंबेडकर के समानता और न्याय के संदेश को प्रसारित करने में अत्यंत सार्थक सिद्ध हुआ।
