All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Raipur observed World Patient Safety Day with a one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme, placing special focus on “Safe Care for Every Newborn and Every Child” and “Your Safety, Just a Click Away: Report to PvPI.” The initiative underscored the institute’s commitment to strengthening patient safety practices and embedding a culture of accountability in healthcare delivery.

Jointly organized by the Patient Safety Committee and the ADR Monitoring Centre, the CME aimed to enhance awareness and implementation of global safety standards in clinical practice. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Eli Mohapatra, Dean Academics, and Dr. Nitin Borkar, Additional Medical Superintendent. Dr. D. K. Tripathy and Dr. Nitin R. Gaikwad served as Organizing Chairpersons, with Dr. Pranita and Dr. Pugazhenthan Thangaraju as Organizing Secretaries.

Delivering his address, Lt. Gen. Ashok Jindal (Retd.), Hon’ble Executive Director of AIIMS Raipur, said, “Patient safety is not just a regulatory requirement but a moral responsibility of every healthcare professional. At AIIMS Raipur, we are committed to embedding safety into every step of patient care. Adverse drug monitoring, reporting, and vigilance systems are crucial for building a safer healthcare ecosystem.” He further noted that the CME marked the beginning of a week-long campaign on patient safety and pharmacovigilance, designed to engage healthcare professionals, students, and the community through academic sessions, workshops, and interactive activities.

The scientific programme opened with an overview of patient safety and pharmacovigilance by Dr. Tripathy and Dr. Gaikwad, followed by a lecture on the Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI) by Dr. Thangaraju. Sessions by Dr. Mayank on patient safety practices and Dr. Ujjwala on healthcare-associated infections broadened the scope of the discussions.

The second session highlighted maternal, newborn, and child safety. Dr. Pushpawati spoke on safe childbirth, Dr. Sunil Jondhale addressed safe neonatal and child care, while Dr. Y. N. Keche conducted a practical demonstration on Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting. The session also featured illustrative case presentations by Dr. Prafulla Thaware.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Thangaraju. A week-long awareness drive on patient safety and pharmacovigilance was also announced, featuring lectures, interactive sessions, quizzes, and public engagement activities. The initiative reflects AIIMS Raipur’s commitment to ensuring safe care for every patient and to advancing PvPI reporting as a cornerstone of safe clinical practice.

एम्स रायपुर में रोगी सुरक्षा दिवस पर सीएमई, नवजात और बच्चों की सुरक्षित देखभाल पर रहा विशेष फोकस

अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान (एम्स) रायपुर में विश्व रोगी सुरक्षा दिवस के अवसर पर एक दिवसीय सतत चिकित्सा शिक्षा (सीएमई) कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। इस कार्यक्रम का मुख्य फोकस “हर नवजात और हर बच्चे के लिए सुरक्षित देखभाल” तथा “आपकी सुरक्षा, बस एक क्लिक की दूरी पर: भारतीय फार्माकोविजिलेंस कार्यक्रम (PvPI) को रिपोर्ट करें” पर केंद्रित रहा।

कार्यक्रम का आयोजन रोगी सुरक्षा समिति और एडीआर मॉनिटरिंग सेंटर के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में किया गया। इसका उद्देश्य रोगी सुरक्षा के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाना और सुरक्षित स्वास्थ्य सेवा तंत्र के क्रियान्वयन को और अधिक सुदृढ़ बनाना था।

सीएमई का शुभारंभ डीन एकेडमिक्स प्रो. (डॉ.) एली मोहापात्रा और अतिरिक्त चिकित्सा अधीक्षक डॉ. नितिन बोरकर ने किया। आयोजन अध्यक्ष की भूमिका डॉ. डी. के. त्रिपाठी और डॉ. नितिन आर. गायकवाड़ ने निभाई, जबकि आयोजन सचिव डॉ. प्रणिता और डॉ. पुघज़ेंथन थंगराजु रहे।

माननीय कार्यकारी निदेशक ले. जनरल अशोक जिंदल (से.नि.) ने अपने संदेश में कहा, “रोगी सुरक्षा केवल नियामक आवश्यकता नहीं बल्कि प्रत्येक स्वास्थ्यकर्मी की नैतिक जिम्मेदारी है। एम्स रायपुर में हम उपचार के हर चरण में सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध हैं। प्रतिकूल औषधि निगरानी, रिपोर्टिंग और सतर्कता तंत्र एक सुरक्षित स्वास्थ्य देखभाल प्रणाली के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक हैं।” उन्होंने आगे कहा कि यह सीएमई संस्थान में रोगी सुरक्षा और फार्माकोविजिलेंस पर सप्ताहभर चलने वाले अभियान की शुरुआत है, जिसमें कार्यशालाओं, अकादमिक सत्रों और सामुदायिक सहभागिता के माध्यम से जागरूकता को नई दिशा दी जाएगी।

वैज्ञानिक सत्रों में डॉ. डी. के. त्रिपाठी और डॉ. नितिन आर. गायकवाड़ ने रोगी सुरक्षा और फार्माकोविजिलेंस कार्यक्रम का अवलोकन प्रस्तुत किया। डॉ. पुघज़ेंथन थंगराजु ने मैटेरियोविजिलेंस प्रोग्राम ऑफ इंडिया (MvPI) पर व्याख्यान दिया, वहीं डॉ. मयंक ने रोगी सुरक्षा प्रथाओं और डॉ. उज्ज्वला ने स्वास्थ्य-संबंधी संक्रमणों पर अपने विचार रखे।

दूसरे सत्र में मातृ, नवजात और शिशु सुरक्षा पर जोर रहा। इस दौरान डॉ. पुष्पवती ने सुरक्षित प्रसव, डॉ. सुनील जोंधले ने नवजात और शिशु देखभाल, तथा डॉ. वाई. एन. केचे ने प्रतिकूल औषधि प्रतिक्रिया (ADR) रिपोर्टिंग का व्यावहारिक प्रदर्शन प्रस्तुत किया। डॉ. प्रफुल्ला थावरे ने केस प्रस्तुतिकरण किया।

कार्यक्रम का समापन डॉ. पुघज़ेंथन थंगराजु द्वारा आभार ज्ञापन के साथ हुआ। इसी अवसर पर रोगी सुरक्षा और फार्माकोविजिलेंस पर सप्ताहभर चलने वाले जागरूकता अभियान की भी घोषणा की गई, जिसमें व्याख्यान, चर्चा सत्र,  क्विज़ और सामुदायिक गतिविधियाँ आयोजित की जाएंगी। यह पहल हर रोगी के लिए सुरक्षित देखभाल सुनिश्चित करने और भारतीय फार्माकोविजिलेंस कार्यक्रम के तहत रिपोर्टिंग को सुरक्षित चिकित्सा अभ्यास की आधारशिला के रूप में बढ़ावा देने के संस्थान की प्रतिबद्धता को रेखांकित करती है।
