Marking World Mosquito Day 2025, the Public Health Department of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant, in collaboration with the District Malaria Committee, Durg, organised a large-scale awareness rally on Wednesday. Led by the District Malaria Officer, the initiative aimed to sensitise citizens about mosquito-borne diseases and the preventive measures necessary to combat them.
Addressing the gathering, the District Malaria Officer underlined that collective public awareness remains the most crucial factor in preventing the spread of mosquito-borne illnesses. He stressed the need for community participation in maintaining hygienic surroundings.
Shri K.K. Yadav, GM (Town Services-BSP), also spoke on the occasion, offering practical suggestions to strengthen survey work. He urged residents to prevent water stagnation and observe one day every week as a “Dry Day” by cleaning and emptying containers holding water, thereby curbing mosquito breeding at the source.
To further support the campaign, a special training session was conducted at the Public Health Department Office in Sector-8 for Breeding Checker teams. Participants were provided with detailed guidelines and practical tips to enhance the effectiveness of ongoing survey operations.
Given Bhilai’s extensive green cover and susceptibility to mosquito proliferation, intensified eradication measures are essential. In this context, the Plant management, with support from the District Malaria Department, launched a comprehensive survey campaign in the last week of June, which will continue until the risk of dengue subsides.
