The Indian Institute of Management Raipur inaugurated the International Case Conference (ICC) 2026 at its campus, marking the beginning of a global academic engagement focused on strengthening case-based learning in emerging market contexts. The ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting and Saraswati Vandana, followed by welcome addresses by distinguished academicians and policymakers.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Prof. Sanjeev Prashar, Director-in-charge, IIM Raipur and Chief Patron, ICC 2026, along with Prof. Pranit K. Roy, Convenor ICC 2026, highlighted the institute’s commitment to building a strong indigenous research and case ecosystem. They emphasised that ICC 2026 is envisioned as a credible, rigorous and inclusive platform for case writing, case teaching and practice-based scholarship, aimed at strengthening the Indian case community and fostering globally relevant, context-driven research through academic collaboration and experiential learning. Prof. Parashar stated, “Case-based learning is central to developing future-ready leaders. Through ICC 2026, IIM Raipur aims to build a strong indigenous ecosystem for case research and pedagogy that bridges theory with real-world managerial and policy challenges.”
The inaugural keynote address was delivered by Prof. Virginia Bodolica, Professor and Head of the Department of Management Studies at the American University of Sharjah and Editor-in-Chief of Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies. In her address on Leadership in Times of Disruption: Humanistic Pathways Towards a Sustainable Tomorrow, she emphasised the centrality of human values, resilience, creativity, emotional intelligence and lifelong learning in shaping future leaders and management education.
Sharing a policy perspective, Shri O.P. Choudhary, Hon’ble Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh, spoke about India’s transformation as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. He highlighted India’s growth from the 10th to the 4th largest economy between 2014 and 2024, the long-term national vision of Amrit Kaal leading up to 2047, key reforms like GST that improved ease of doing business, and the rapid expansion of the startup ecosystem, urging the youth to actively contribute to nation-building through innovation and entrepreneurship. He remarked, “India’s growth story over the last decade shows what is possible with clear vision, policy reforms and accountable governance. As we move towards Amrit Kaal 2047, innovation, entrepreneurship and youth participation will be the key drivers of sustainable national development.”
As part of the academic programme, ICC 2026 featured high-impact plenary sessions. Plenary Session I, chaired by Prof. Gopal Kumar, Co-Convenor, ICC 2026, was delivered by Prof. Debjit Roy, IIM Ahmedabad, focusing on integrating case writing and case teaching with course design. Plenary Session II, chaired by Prof. Manojit Chattopadhyay, Co-Chair, ICC 2026, was addressed by Amit Siddhartha, Harvard Business Publishing, who shared global insights on case research and publication practices.
A key highlight of the conference was the Industry Panel Discussion, moderated by Prof. Satyasiba Das, Dean External Relations, IIM Raipur and Co-Chair ICC 2026, featuring Rajat Bansal, IAS, Special Secretary, Department of Good Governance and Convergence, Pawan Kumar, Executive Director (HR), SAIL, and Ashish Chaturvedi, Zonal Head, Punjab National Bank, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Rajat Bansal emphasised that accountability and autonomy go hand in hand for good governance, while Pawan Kumar highlighted the need for strategic reforms, speed of execution, and effective talent deployment to achieve India’s 2047 vision.
Through its inaugural sessions, plenaries and industry interactions, ICC 2026 reaffirmed IIM Raipur’s commitment to advancing experiential learning, fostering meaningful dialogue between academia, industry and policy institutions, and strengthening India’s position in the global case ecosystem.
