मुख्यमंत्री श्री विष्णु देव साय ने बस्तर में सामाजिक-आर्थिक बदलाव के नए अध्याय की शुरुआत करते हुए आज जगदलपुर में ‘पंडुम कैफ़े’ का शुभारंभ किया। यह कैफ़े नक्सली हिंसा के पीड़ितों और समर्पण कर चुके सदस्यों के पुनर्वास हेतु छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार की एक महत्वपूर्ण पहल है, जिसने हिंसा का मार्ग छोड़कर मुख्यधारा में लौटने वालों को सम्मानजनक और स्थायी आजीविका प्रदान करने की दिशा में मजबूत कदम बढ़ाया है। यह अनूठी पहल संघर्ष से सहयोग तक के प्रेरणादायक सफर को दर्शाती है।‘पंडुम कैफ़े’ जगदलपुर के पुलिस लाइन परिसर में स्थित है।

मुख्यमंत्री श्री साय ने ‘पंडुम कैफे’   में कार्यरत नारायणपुर की फगनी, सुकमा की पुष्पा ठाकुर, बीरेंद्र ठाकुर, बस्तर की आशमती और प्रेमिला बघेल के साथ सौहार्दपूर्ण बातचीत की। उन्होंने नई शुरुआत के लिए उनका हौसला बढ़ाया और ‘पंडुम कैफ़े’ के बेहतर संचालन के लिए बधाई एवं शुभकामनाएं भी दीं।

मुख्यमंत्री श्री विष्णु देव साय ने कहा कि पंडुम कैफ़े का शुभारंभ बस्तर क्षेत्र में नक्सलवाद के उन्मूलन की दिशा में हो रहे सकारात्मक परिवर्तन का एक प्रेरक प्रतीक है। मुख्यमंत्री ने श्री साय ने कहा कि पंडुम कैफे आशा, प्रगति और शांति का उज्ज्वल प्रतीक है। कैफे में कार्यरत युवा, जो नक्सली हिंसा के पीड़ित तथा हिंसा का मार्ग छोड़ चुके सदस्य हैं, अब शांति के पथ पर अग्रसर हो चुके हैं। जिला प्रशासन और पुलिस के सहयोग से उन्हें आतिथ्य सेवाओं, कैफ़े प्रबंधन, ग्राहक सेवा, स्वच्छता मानकों, खाद्य सुरक्षा और उद्यमिता कौशल का गहन प्रशिक्षण प्रदान किया गया है।

हिंसा का मार्ग छोड़कर शांति के पथ पर लौटे और कैफ़े में कार्यरत एक महिला ने इस अवसर पर भावुक होकर इस पुनर्वास पहल से हुए बदलाव की बात दोहराई। एक पूर्व माओवादी कैडर ने कहा कि,“हमने अपने अतीत में अंधेरा देखा था। आज हमें समाज की सेवा करने का यह अवसर मिला है, यह हमारे लिए एक नया जन्म है। बारूद की जगह कॉफी परोसना और अपनी मेहनत की कमाई से जीना—यह एहसास हमें शांति और सम्मान दे रहा है।”

एक अन्य सहयोगी ने अपनी खुशी व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि,“पहले हम अपने परिवार को सम्मानजनक जीवन देने का सपना भी नहीं देख सकते थे। अब हम अपनी मेहनत से कमाए पैसों से घर के सदस्यों का भविष्य संवार सकते हैं। यह सब प्रशासन और इस कैफ़े की वजह से संभव हुआ है।”

एक अन्य सदस्य ने समुदाय के सहयोग पर जोर देते हुए कहा कि,“हमें लगा था कि मुख्यधारा में लौटना आसान नहीं होगा, लेकिन पुलिस और जिला प्रशासन ने हमें प्रशिक्षण दिया और हमारा विश्वास जीता। सबसे बड़ी बात यह है कि हम अब पीड़ितों के साथ मिलकर काम कर रहे हैं, जिससे हमें अपने अतीत के अपराधों को सुधारने और शांति स्थापित करने का अवसर मिला है।”

उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि ‘पंडुम’ बस्तर की सांस्कृतिक जड़ों को दर्शाता है, और इसकी टैगलाइन “जहाँ हर कप एक कहानी कहता है” इस बात का प्रतीक है कि यहाँ परोसी गई कॉफी सिर्फ स्वाद ही नहीं, बल्कि साहस, संघर्ष पर विजय और एक नई शुरुआत की कहानी भी अपने साथ लेकर आती है।

इस अवसर पर वन मंत्री श्री केदार कश्यप, शिक्षा मंत्री श्री गजेन्द्र यादव, सांसद श्री महेश कश्यप, जगदलपुर विधायक श्री किरण सिंह देव, चित्रकोट विधायक श्री विनायक गोयल, बेवरेज कॉर्पोरेशन के अध्यक्ष श्री श्रीनिवास राव मद्दी, अनुसूचित जनजाति आयोग के अध्यक्ष श्री रूपसिंह मंडावी, जगदलपुर महापौर श्री संजय पांडे, जिला पंचायत अध्यक्ष श्रीमती वेदवती कश्यप, संभागायुक्त श्री डोमन सिंह, पुलिस महानिरीक्षक श्री सुन्दरराज पी., कलेक्टर श्री हरिस एस., पुलिस अधीक्षक श्री शलभ सिन्हा सहित अन्य जनप्रतिनिधिगण एवं वरिष्ठ प्रशासनिक अधिकारीगण भी उपस्थित थे।

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today marked the beginning of a new chapter in Bastar’s socio-economic transformation by inaugurating ‘Pandum Café’ in Jagdalpur. The café is a significant rehabilitation initiative of Chhattisgarh Government aimed at supporting victims of Naxal violence as well as former cadres who have chosen to surrender and rejoin the social mainstream. By offering dignified and sustainable livelihood opportunities, this innovative effort reflects a powerful journey — from conflict to cooperation. Pandum Café is located within the Police Lines campus in Jagdalpur.

During his visit, Chief Minister Shri Sai interacted warmly with the café team — Fagni of Narayanpur, Pushpa Thakur and Birendra Thakur of Sukma, and Ashmati and Premila Baghel of Bastar. He congratulated them on their new beginning and extended best wishes for the successful operation of the café.

Chief Minister Shri Sai described the inauguration of Pandum Café as an inspiring symbol of the positive change underway in Bastar’s ongoing campaign to eliminate Naxalism. He said the café represents “hope, progress, and peace.” Youth working here — many of whom are survivors of Naxal violence or individuals who have renounced the path of extremism have now embraced a life of peace. With the support of the district administration and police, they have undergone extensive training in hospitality services, café management, customer service, hygiene standards, food safety, and basic entrepreneurship.

One woman working at the café, who has returned to the mainstream after leaving the path of violence, expressed her emotions while reflecting on this transformative initiative. A former Maoist cadre shared,

“We have seen darkness in our past. Today, we have been given an opportunity to serve society — it feels like a new life. To serve coffee instead of carrying explosives, and to earn with dignity, gives us peace and self-respect.”

One other member of the team said,

“Earlier, we could not even dream of giving our families a respectable life. Now, with our hard-earned income, we can secure their future. This has been possible because of the administration and this café.

Another member highlighted the role of community support, saying,

“We thought returning to the mainstream would be difficult. But the police and district administration trained us and won our trust. The most meaningful part is that we now work alongside victims of past violence, giving us a chance to make amends and help build peace.

They also shared that the name ‘Pandum’ reflects Bastar’s cultural roots, and the café’s tagline — “Where every cup tells a story” — signifies that every cup of coffee served here carries not just flavour, but a narrative of courage, victory over adversity, and new beginnings.

The event was attended by Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav, MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap, Jagdalpur MLA Shri Kiran Singh Deo, Chitrakote MLA Shri Vinayak Goyal, Beverage Corporation Chairman Shri Srinivas Rao Maddi, Scheduled Tribes Commission Chairman Shri Roopsingh Mandavi, Jagdalpur Mayor Shri Sanjay Pandey, District Panchayat Chairperson Smt. Vedvati Kashyap, Divisional Commissioner Shri Doman Singh, Inspector General of Police Shri Sundarraj P., Collector Shri Haris S., Superintendent of Police Shri Shalabh Sinha, along with several public representatives and senior administrative officials.
