A two-day specialized training program on the e-Livestock Integrated Sample Survey (e-LISS) Application was organized at the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Groundwater Training and Research in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The program was conducted under the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. The program was inaugurated by Shri Ramvichar Netam, Chhattisgarh’s Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Tribal Welfare.
The event was attended by Shri Jagat Hazarika, Statistical Advisor of the Department of Animal Husbandry, along with state and district-level nodal officers from six eastern states—Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal—and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In his inaugural address, Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam emphasized that accurate and reliable livestock data play a crucial role in policymaking at both the state and central government levels. He highlighted the importance of collecting data on a scientific basis and using it effectively for informed decision-making.
Shri Jagat Hazarika explained that data collected through Integrated Sample Surveys at the village level are valuable for international reporting and comparative studies. Dr. Prachi Mishra Sahu, Senior Scientist at the Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASRI), informed that livestock survey data across the country are being digitized through the e-Livestock Application, enhancing the accuracy, transparency, and efficiency of data collection and analysis.
The two-day training program aims to equip state and district-level officials with the skills to use the e-LISS Application effectively and to strengthen the scientific collection of livestock data.
