Sports Authority of India approves 10 new Khelo India Center for Chhattisgarh

The  Sports Authority of India has approved the establishment of ten new Small Khelo India centers in Chhattisgarh under the Khelo India scheme. These ten centers will be established for one game each in different districts. Small Khelo India Center has been approved by the Sports Authority of India for Hockey, Wrestling, Football, Kabaddi, and Archery. Sports Authority of India will also provide financial assistance for setting up these centers. Now the total number of centers under the Khelo India scheme has increased to 24 in Chhattisgarh.

Expressing happiness over the approval of 10 new Khelo India centers in Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister said that the players of Chhattisgarh will now get a good opportunity to enhance their sporting talent. In the coming times, these players will bring laurels to the state as well as the country at both national and international levels. He said that this has proved to be another meaningful step in realizing the concept of 'Khelbo Jeetbo Gadhbo Nava Chhattisgarh'.

SAI has approved 10 Small Khelo India centers which include a Hockey center in Bastar and Janjgir Champa, a Football center in Korba, Balrampur, Mungeli, and Surajpur, a Wrestling center in Dhamtari, a Kabaddi center in Bemetara and an Archery center in Dantewada and Mahasamund. The process of establishing Small Khelo India centers for Hockey in Jashpur, Malkhamb in Narayanpur, Archery in Bijapur, Archery in Shivtrai Bilaspur, Volleyball in Gariyaband, Football in Surguja, and Hockey in Rajnandgaon is in progress. So far, Rs 7 lakh for each district has been released in the first phase for establishing small centers in 7 districts. In the other 7 sanctioned districts the release of funds is under process.

In this way, 24 Small Khelo India Centers in 24 districts of the state will provide direct benefits to players for enhancing the sporting talent in the state. Local senior players of each sport would be attached to the center, they would also be paid an honorarium to be posted as coaches. Equal representation of boys and girls players will also be ensured in all Khelo India centers. These centers will be registered in the Sports Authority of India portal.
